Book Contest .
The name of this book contest is EXTREME COMPREHENSIONTM. It is a book reading competition aimed at promoting the culture of reading among students across Nigeria’s tertiary institutions. All participants in this competition are expected to read some recommended books and answer questions correctly within a given time in order to progress.
More than twenty tertiary institutions across Nigeria will participate in this quarterly competition and great prizes will be won.
THE COMPETITION
The competition is a quarterly competition and participants are expected to read one book every three months. Five questions from the recommended books will be sent via SMS at a time and day to be communicated to the participants and participants are expected to answer within a given time.
This stage is a redeemable stage because if you crash out, you can still come back through a friend. Those who answer three questions correctly from the five will progress to another level where three questions will be asked.
[Please note that all those who crashed out in the first five questions who have a member of their back up group qualifying for the next stage will automatically qualify to the next level of three questions. Please read down to understand the meaning of back up friend and back up group]
Subsequently, three questions will be asked also at a day and time that will be communicated to the contestants. Those who answer two questions correctly out of the three will proceed to the next level of the qualifying stage. Note, at this stage, back up friendship is disabled thus making this stage an irredeemable stage. Everyone is on his own at this stage.
Thirdly, a question will be asked and the first fifty to answer correctly will qualify for the quarter. What that means is that three sets of chances will be given to every participant to qualify every quarter.
This sequence will continue every quarter where fifty people will qualify in each quarter and prizes will be given. A super competition with a super prize will be held after every three quarter for those that qualified in the last three quarters.
Remember, If one participant qualifies for the second level, he/she automatically qualifies everyone in his/her back up group whether they qualify or not. (This means that even if you do not qualify in the first level of five questions and a member of your back up group qualifies, his qualification qualifies all members of his group. Read down to understand what a back up friend/group means.)
THE RULES
On registering, participants are advised to enter the names of a maximum of two other friends who are called “back up friends”. The backup friends must have registered for the contest. These friends can bring you back to the show if you crash out at the redeemable stage of the qualification stage. When you are redeemed, you are given a chance to come back to the show.
Note, a back up friend is not compulsory but we advise you have one or two because they might be the life line you need to remain in the contest. You can have one back up friend or a maximum of two. A back up group is a group of two or three friends who will hope on the other or one another to make progress in the competition.
A back up friend is a member of your back up group.
A leading friend is a friend that saves his or her friend(s).
HOW BACK UP FRIENDSHIP WORKS
Back up friendship is only applicable at the redeemable stage. The idea of the backup friendship system is to promote team work. When you crash out at the redeemable stage and a friend in your back up group gets his or her answer correctly, you automatically return to the show.
No member of a back up group shall be a member of another back up group. This will lead to an automatic disqualification without refund. All members of a back up group must come from the same school. A back up group may be a mixed group of males and females (e.g. a male and a male, a female and a female, a male and a female, a male and two females. two males and a female)
